QUONDAM, the fourth book of my Ancient Mirrors series, made the 2009 IPPY finalist list! Winner placement (Gold, Silver and Bronze medallists) will be announced at the IPPY Awards on May 29th in NYC.
For those unfamiliar with the IPPY Awards, they are the equivalent of The Oscars for small press and independent book publishers.
Fantasy/Science Fiction Category Finalists:
The Broken Thread, by Linda Smith (Coteau Books); Madman’s Dance, by Jana G. Oliver (Dragon Moon Press); I, robot, by Howard Smith (Robot Binaries & Press); Quondam, by Jayel Gibson (Synergy Books).

QUONDAM (Synergy Books, May 2008) winner of last year's National Indie Excellence Award for fantasy and science fiction and a USA Book News "Best Books" 2008 Finalist award was announced as a 2009 National IPPY Awards finalist today, bringing Jayel Gibson's Ancient Mirrors series its sixth national award. Other titles in the series were acknowledged with two National "Best Books" 2007 Finalist awards and a 15th Annual Writer's Digest International Book Awards Honorable Mention. Final results will be announced May 29th during a gala awards ceremony at BookExpo America in New York.
The “IPPY” Awards are a broad-based, unaffiliated awards program open to all members of the independent publishing industry, and are open to small press publishers worldwide who produce books written in English and intended for the North American market, are independently owned and operated, managed by a foundation or university; or long-time independents that became incorporated but operate autonomously and publish fewer than 50 titles a year.
My flight and hotel are booked, so we'll be off to NYC for the awards ceremony - leaving the 27th and back on June 1st. Get to eat in the great delis of NYC again and visit a few of the stunning museums, plus hang out at BookExpo America on Saturday.
